SUMMARY:Feb 1 • Sierra Arts Literary Community Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Community of Writers\, Poets\, Illustrators\, Readers\, and Literary Enthusiasts. \nJoin us on Sunday\, February 1st for the Sierra Arts Literary Community \nTopic:  Making the Best of Residencies and Retreats \nThe Sierra Arts Literary Community’s February meeting will feature a panel discussion\, Making the Best of Residencies and Retreats\, with experienced writers and organizers exploring how these opportunities can support and accelerate your creative work. \nWhether you are beginning a new project or polishing an existing draft\, residencies and retreats can provide focused time\, fresh inspiration\, and renewed momentum. Many writers also leave with lasting friendships and expanded professional networks. However\, not all residencies and retreats are the same\, they vary widely in structure\, focus\, cost\, and commitment. How do you know which opportunities are right for you? \nPanelists will address the pros and cons of residencies and retreats\, what to expect\, and how to determine whether a particular program is a good fit for your goals. \nPanelists \n\n\nKaren Terrey\, Nevada County\, California Poet Laureate and residency participant \n\n\nKim Harnes\, organizer of an annual writers’ retreat in Virginia City \n\n\nLinda Kay Hardie\, mentee and mentor in the Nevada Society of Book Writers and Illustrators’ mentor program\, a frequent participant and speaker at writers’ retreats\, including Kim Harnes’s retreat \n\n\nThe panel will be moderated by Suzanne Morgan Williams\, founder and organizer of SCBWI mentor retreats and a frequent participant in informal writers’ retreats. \nBring your questions and be ready to explore the possibilities that residencies and retreats can offer your writing life. \nSierra Arts Literary Community (SALC) is a group dedicated to local writers\, aspiring writers\, poets\, illustrators\, readers\, and literary enthusiasts.  Sierra Arts Foundation has created a dedicated space in the Depot Gallery for literary artists and literary groups within the region to meet\, perform readings\, offer writing workshops\, and sell their published books. \nEVERYONE IS WELCOME! \nTo learn more about Sierra Arts Literary Community\, please contact Lynne at lynne@sierra-arts.org
