SUMMARY:Mar 7 • Making Sense of Revision Workshop by Suzanne Morgan Williams
DESCRIPTION:Making Sense of Revision Workshop by Suzanne Morgan Williams\nSaturday Mornings – March 7\, 14\, 21\, 2026\n10:00am to 12:00pm\nSierra Arts Academy Training Studio – 1995 Dickerson Rd\, Reno\nRegistration Fee: $85\nSAF Membership Registration Discount: $75\nRegistration Link:  Making Sense of Revision\n\nThe first session\, The Big Picture\, focuses on helping writers identify why they wrote their work and what they want readers to take away from it. This clarified intention becomes the guiding principle for the entire revision process. Activities include developing concise “elevator pitches” for the work and identifying the ideal reader or target audience. \nThis workshop has been taught successfully many times\, most often in three sessions over a day and a half at writers’ conferences. Spreading it out over three weeks is expected to be even more effective\, giving participants time to reflect on concepts and apply them to their own work. \n\nSuzanne Morgan Williams is the author of the middle grade novel Bull Rider (Margaret K. McElderry Books)\, the YA novel Sierra Blue\, and eleven nonfiction books for children\, with more titles forthcoming. Since publishing her first book\, Made in China: Ideas and Inventions from Ancient China (Pacific View Press)\, her writing career has taken her into classrooms to connect with students\, to universities and museums to collaborate with experts\, and into communities to share stories and experiences.
