Description:
What draws you into a book or short piece, forgetting yourself for the time?  The answer is voice.  In this interactive class you will experiment with your unique voice and writing style with plenty of feedback and writing time.  Participants will discover elements of Voice and Point of View (closely connected) through readings, discussions, and short writing assignments. They will write an original story or essay in both first person and third person point of view. They will listen to others’ spoken rhythms and vocabularies and identify tags and authentic versus forced dialogue. They will also participate in small group critique sessions after the first class. There will be time for Q and A and participants will be encouraged to journal and “take off” with their own writing as they are inspired.
