Family Art Saturdays May 24 • Impressionism Cassatt

May 24 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Cassatt

Arts Engagement Program in partnership with Carson City Arts & Culture

Family Art Saturdays • May 24th (10:00am-12:00pm)

Art Activity Topic:  Impressionism & Cassatt

Impressionism was developed in France in the nineteenth century and is based on the practice of painting out of doors and spontaneously ‘on the spot’ rather than in a studio from sketches. Main impressionist subjects were landscapes and scenes of everyday life.

Mary Cassatt was an American Impressionist painter and printmaker who focused on the intimate lives of women, particularly mothers and children. Her work is known for its tender, unsentimental portraits of everyday moments, often depicting women at the opera, visiting friends, or taking tea.

Children of all ages and their families are invited to explore a variety of hands-on visual art projects that engage and educate. Second and Fourth Saturday of each month 10am-noon.  All ages welcome; children under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Registration through Carson City Arts & Culture • $10 or $8/each for groups of 3 or more that register together. Kids 5 and under free.
