The Youth Artvantage Initiative is a promise to protect our region’s artistic future. In short, we’re providing art supplies to students who otherwise would not have them because of the complexities and new requirements of the COVID-19 pandemic. Without the right tools, these students are at a disadvantage and their chances for success decrease. A gift to the Youth ARTvantage Initiative puts materials in the hands of Washoe County School District students so they can succeed in their studies, learn new methods for dealing with stress, and enhance their academic studies. The Youth ARTvantage Initiative is supported in part by Sierra Arts Foundation, Nevada Fine Arts,  Washoe County School District and the Holland Project.

Right now we’re prioritizing “Intro to Art” students, who are typically freshmen in high school. An estimated 2470 students are enrolled in these classes this fall, and many of them do not have access to these supplies through no fault of their own. To provide materials to these students, the Youth ARTvantage Initiative needs to raise $50,000.

Once we successfully fund these students we will investigate a second phase of funding for middle school and elementary school students.

Can you help us hit our first phase goals? Just $20 can help us underwrite one kit for one student (kits include: sketchbook or drawing pad, colored pencil set, watercolor set with paint brush, sharpie marker with fine tip, eraser (white), pencil sharpener, ruler and scissors.
