Laurel Picklum: Adaptation

Reception Date – Saturday, September 25th, 3 to 5 pm
“Adaption” will present a series of of oil paintings depicting California native animal species. The series poses various scenes, both real and imagined, exploring how these species adapt to urban/city environments.
Laurel Picklum grew up in California raised by a pair of nature-loving scientists. Thus far, her life has been filled with creativity through drawing, painting, and music, as well as an ever-growing appreciation for biology and the natural world. In 2013 she received a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from San Jose State University, and in 2016 completed the Natural Science Illustration program at the University of Washington in Seattle.
