We’ll break down story structure and uncover the essential elements all great stories share. You’ll learn how to craft memorable characters that drive the plot, use setting as an active storytelling tool, and weave every element into a cohesive narrative. Workbook pages and targeted homework will help you apply each lesson directly to your own project. By the end, you’ll understand how strong stories really work and you’ll leave with a solid, personalized map for creating your own.
Jenny MacKay is the author of 34 nonfiction books for readers ages 12 to 18 and an academic copyeditor whose clients include the American Medical Association, Elsevier, SAGE Publications, and Human Kinetics. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from National University and a graduate certificate in medical writing and editing from the University of Chicago. A certified TEFL instructor, Jenny has taught college composition and communications courses and currently serves as an assistant regional advisor for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
