Searching Beyond the Fence by Brandon Lacow
Searching Beyond the Fence focuses on queer space and its impact on queer identity. Brandon constructed a domestic box out of cedar fence lumber and photographed members of the queer community inside it. This strategy of building a “home” from unexpected material explores the dichotomy between public and private, masculine and feminine, within the context of home and society. Brandon’s goal is to create a sense of comfort and protection within his queer identity through creating physical spaces and objects intended to protect and conceal.
