Description:
There’s nothing more unique than Handmade Chain and in this beginner class you will learn and practice basic soldering techniques with a torch and leave with a beautiful Paperclip style chain or other creative chain style handmade by you.
This introductory class is perfect if you are intimidated by the torch or just want to learn and practice basic soldering with a torch. Making chains by hand will quickly improve your soldering skills, both due to the repetition and to the delicate nature of the work. You’ll learn when to position solder for best results and to think outside the box when deciding what shape links to make. Students will be able to make either one Sterling Silver necklace-length handmade chain OR one small (bracelet) chain along with sample lengths of one or more link styles. And you will leave the class with basic torch comfort. Tools will be provided for use in class. Cost of Sterling Silver and Solder is included in Materials Fee and additional Silver is available to purchase.  All levels are welcome, and no metalworking experience is required.
