As a fourth-generation Nevadan, Mark Hatjakes loves the natural beauty of our region. Over the years, as a graphic artist, a web designer, a photographer and filmmaker, he developed a love of technology, since it compliments and empowers traditional art. He is now combining these artistic talents on art for art’s sake... the simple act of self expression. To illustrate his study of the convergence of art, culture and place – digital and natural – Mark has completed a new two-dimensional art series that blends aerial photography with digital brushwork to create large format paintings on canvas & metal. This hybrid-medium art captures a unique impressionistic view of our region, throughout the seasons. Hatjakes believes these pieces convey a sense of place as well as a feeling of whimsy, both of which are inspired by our rugged Nevada landscapes.
