My present work explores the intersection of art, science and culture. I look at the structure and systems of the physical world and explore how people relate to it. I look at the world’s and our timelines… and the vast, range of sizes and numbers of things involved. My work derives from a background in quantitative and applied sciences, design and art… a background that emphasizes the pivotal relationship between the tiniest-of-scale things and profound, but often invisible, impacts in the larger world. Thus, in the abstract I look at the relationship of self and human, to ground, ocean and sky, to horizon and boundary…to the scale of things and their impacts on our understanding as seen through our particular and perhaps peculiar cultural lensing. In the concrete, however, I am working to represent numbers and quantities such as atmospheric concentrations of gases, for example, so as to call attention to the very real effects we humans are having on a planetary scale.
